Design Projects

This project involved creating a logo for the second-hand bookstore Twice Sold Tales, with there being three drafts. A design memo was drafted to summarize the design principles considered that went into each iteration; this memo also describes what was learned in working on this logo.

This project involved creating a set of logos for the Buddhist nonprofit Katog Choling. A design memo was drafted to summarize the design principles considered. In particular, this project involved research into Tibetan Buddhism history, to explore and confirm the validity of certain designs. In addition, this project was paired with an Applied Theory presentation that explored the Tibetan diaspora and editing for global audiences.

This project involved improving the design for the sign-up form for the 2009 Arkansas State Fair Livestock Show. A design memo was drafted to summarize the design principles considered that went into each iteration. In particular, the improvements to this form were based around turning the original (which had been a PDF) into a fillable Word format. The design memo also describes what was learned in creating the new form.

This project involved reformatting and organizing the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s Institute for Genomic Biology safety manual. A design memo was drafted to summarize the design principles considered that went into each iteration. This memo also described what was learned in working on this manual.

This project involved creating and organizing a TV schedule (that would also function as an advertisement) for the New Visions cable company. A design memo was drafted to summarize the design principles considered that went into each iteration. This memo also described what was learned in working on this graphic.

This project involved creating a presentation on Arkansas Air Quality. While the information for the presentation was sourced from another paper containing statistics, the original was then made specifically with a focus on carefully reordering and adding graphics to the information provided in the writing adapted.

This design features homemade graphics and statistics for Triangle Sales, a furniture company.

This project involved creating an interactive Prezi presentation. This Prezi uniquely summarized the court case California v. Spragney, breaking it down into individual, connected Toulmin model’s. A cover memo describes the overall argument presented through the overlapping and nested Toulmin models, with the Prezi moving through and emphasizing their nested nature through Prezi’s zoom-in capabilities.

This project involved creating a brand new in-house style guide for the Buddhist nonprofit Katog Choling. This style guide was produced throughout 2022 and 2023, with there being two versions created (one in 2022 and another in 2023 that added additional publications). In particular, this style guide featured Adobe InDesign and WordPress tutorials, so that new volunteers could correctly apply Katog Choling’s style. Additionally, a series of memos describe the various steps taken and meetings held to ensure that the style guide fit the different publications that Katog Choling creates. A cover memo explains the things learned in creating the style guide, such as the need to format Tibetan translations uniquely.
